Melvin Foukal is proud to be seeking re-election to the Monroeville City Council, where he has faithfully served for the past 14 years. A lifelong advocate for Monroeville, Melvin brings decades of business leadership, civic involvement, and a deep commitment to the people of our city.
After graduating from Auburn University in 1977, Melvin began his career with Harrigan Lumber Company, where he worked for over four decades before retiring in 2022. In addition to his professional career, Melvin has successfully owned and operated several local businesses, including Suds & Duds Laundromats, a car wash, Monroeville Portable Signs, Telpage of Monroeville, The Picture Place, Monroeville Home Video, and Cherry Street
Bar-B-Que.
A man of faith, he has served in various leadership roles—including the Administrative Council,
Staff-Parish Relations Committee, Finance Committee, and as Chairman of the Stewardship Committee.
Melvin has always believed in giving back. In addition to his service on the City Council, he coached city league softball for six years and is a past president of the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce. He remains committed to helping Monroeville grow while preserving the values that make our community strong.

Melvin and his wife Gail Bryson Foukal have been married for over 47 years. They have three daughters—Marrilee (Rick) Davis of Daphne, Leslee Foukal, and Jenilee (Douglas) Merrell, both of Birmingham—and are proud grandparents to four wonderful grandchildren.
